HEIDELBERG NEWS - The wildfire in the Heidelberg area has been successfully contained following light rainfall overnight.
Up to 8mm of rain was recorded, significantly aiding efforts to extinguish lingering fire activity on the north-eastern flank.
Fire crews from the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) based in Riversdale, along with teams from CapeNature, remain on site today to patrol and monitor the area for any potential flare-ups.
Stakeholders involved in the firefighting operations include GRDM Fire and Rescue Services, CapeNature, Working on Fire, and the Southern Cape Fire Protection Association.
Residents are reminded to report any sightings of veld or wildfires immediately to the GRDM Emergency Call Centre at 044 805 5071 or via WhatsApp at 081 709 5193.
