WESTERN CAPE NEWS - The Western Cape Department of Health has started its vaccine rollout over the past few days at three sites: Groote Schuur Hospital, Tygerberg Hospital and Khayelitsha Hospital.
According to a media statement sent out today (22 February), the department has received 13 160 vaccines as part of the first batch of deliveries and as of 21 February at 17:00 has already administered almost 3 000 vaccines.
This vaccination programme is the biggest yet in the province and country. The department continues to monitor the rollout process and has been addressing teething issues as they are identified, which is part of such a mass vaccination drive.
Healthcare workers who wish to take up vaccination should register on the electronic system. Once registered they will be issued with a vaccination site and date to go for the vaccination, said the department.
As more batches of vaccines arrive, the programme will continue rolling out among those health care workers who wish to be vaccinated.
